Review : Marriott Cafe, SG
Here comes the first food review I am sharing. It was a special birthday dinner arranged at Marriott Cafe (Marriott Singapore Tang Plaza).
Arriving at the restaurant, we were ushered into the dining hall, walking past the buffet line. The place seems pretty small, and only one section was opened for diners. Perhaps, due to the fact it was a weekday and not many diners there for dinner.
Food serving was reasonable, but not ideally fantastic in comparison to other buffets spread around town. Moreover, as it was a birthday dinner, we were surprised by their hospitality – the cafe actually had prepared a small berry eclair for the birthday guest. Sitting by our next table was a family of four, who also happen to be celebrating their child’s birthday – there they received a slice of cake.
The plus point for this cafe was the offering of Wine at free flow. The selection of red and whites was not too bad. They served Red Wines (Merlot, Shiraz & Cabernet Sauvignon) and White Wines (Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc) – just to name a few.
Love for Food: Food selection was pretty limited. It has a limited selection of cuisine – Chinese, Western, Italian, Seafood & Japanese. As the buffet theme for this period was Italian; there was a broader spread of Italian food variety offered. A plus point was the huge wall of cheese, however, lack the crackers to pair with the cheese variety.
Joy in Dinning: We enjoyed the free-flow selections of wines more than the food. Though the pairing of cantaloupe with parma ham saved the day – literally.
Peace in Atmosphere: The restaurant was only 25% occupied. It was pretty quiet for a weekday. Morover, not too bad a venue to dine in on a weekday night.
Value: Buffet Dinner SGD$70 ++ (service tax 10%, govt tax 7%) + Free flow Wine SGD $45++ (service tax 10%, govt tax 7%)
Overall rating: 6.5/10
