Weekly Round Up [Struggle]
As much as I had wanted to write a review focused on Les Misérables, I had second thoughts about doing so. Instead, I have chosen to focus instead a article surround the eventful weekend – with a bit more focus on the Hospitality reception hosted by LeClub AccorHotels last Friday evening for the Les Misérables musical.
So how does the word “Struggle” sum up my week? Nope, it was not a struggle to work my way through the week. The struggle in this instance, refers to the struggle I witnessed from the main lead in the show – his inner struggle to do good from bad. How he tried to overcome his bad deeds to begin his journey of more good. We have everyday struggles too… some of us feel that going to work is a struggle, while others feel that living a life is a struggle. Just how much of struggle we face, is how we see everything in our lives.
Watching the musical brings back the memory of the 2012 film adaptation directed by Tom Hooper. While watching from the Premier Box, I could see clearly the entire visual effects and how the props are moved around stage as well as the expression from the casts on stage. The musical is in many ways similar to what I saw on film. And the props was very much impressive and how the backdrop transitions as well as the pyrotechnics used. It was very well choreographed along with a live band playing to the tune of the entire show.
On the side note, the hospitality experience was hosted by LeClub AccorHotels for their members via the hospitality redemption program back in March 2016. I have to say that the team did a great job hosting the event for their members. Though it is my first time experiencing the musical as well as attending the hospitality event. It brings me many surprises that thrills me. The Asia Pacific team was on site along with some of the chain’s managers to meet and greet with 20 over members who attended the event. The room was also infused with Sofitel SO Singapore‘s signature fragrance – Urban Forest, along side the BookCube – a very special Bookend designed by Karl Lagerfeld and bearing the lion’s seal emblem.
It was indeed a evening that I gain some insight into the hospitality industry as well as arts experience. Being a AccorHotels member for many years, it was a first, but not the last as I always had good experience whenever I stayed at AccorHotels chain during my personal travels. I also took home with me the goodie bag from the event – pictured below with the Signature fragrance. It reminds me of my very first stay with AccorHotels 8 years ago in 2008 at VIE Hotel Bangkok (M Gallery by Sofitel).
The rest of the weekend was spent running some quick errands and getting some craft related items from Spotlight to make cards and also hitting the gym for the weekend workout.
