A walk in the Gardens [Singapore Garden Festival 2016]
This post seems a bit too late, but I shall still share it anyway. Went to the Singapore Garden Festival last week Sunday. This is a floral display competition and garden show that occurs every 2 years. It is the 2nd time organised at the Gardens by the Bay. This year it is bigger and has more outdoor displays as compared to the previous edition back in 2014.
So the event is divided into 3 zones – The Meadow, Marketplace and Bayfront Plaza. So it depends on which side of the gardens by the bay you enter from. The event has ticketed and non-ticketed area. The Meadow and Bayfront Plaza are ticketed area, while the Marketplace is free to visit for all.
Personally, I like two segments of the entire garden show. While I have some photos taken during the Garden Festival for sharing here. I would like to zoom in on the Secret Garden & the World of Terrarium.
The Secret Garden (located at The Meadow) highlights is 2 orchid hybrids name after the Founding father of modern Singapore – the late Mr Lee Kuan Yew and his wife – the late Mdm Kwa Geok Choo. While I was looking at the orchid hybrid in its golden yellow hues, it brings upon me the remembering of his passing and about the legacy he and his team have built 51 years ago for Singapore (more about the two orchid hybrids here),
While the World of Terrarium (located at the Bayfront Plaza) showcases the many different terrariums that form a part of its own in each unique display inside the indoor showcase.
There are also other interesting installations and competition floral arrangements on display at various zones of the Garden Festival.
Just to share a few more of my favourites… which I saw during my visit to the Gardens Festival.
The Singapore Garden Festival is a bi-annual event which occurs from now till 23 to 31 July 2016 at Gardens by the Bay. Tickets are available at Gardens by the Bay.
Complimenting the Garden Festival is the Orchid Extravaganza showcase which is held over at the Flower Dome at Gardens by the Bay. Entry to the Flower Dome comes with a complimentary pass to the Singapore Gardens Festival. While the Orchid Extravaganza showcase will be from now until August 28, 2016. More on that in the next article coming up.
