Took a visit to the Beach Road Kitchen sometime in earlier this month to try out the dinner buffet on a weekday. The Beach Road Kitchen prides themselves on using the freshest regional produce and high-quality ingredients to prepare the food items served on the buffet line.
Highlights of Weekday Dinner Buffet
Charcuterie and Cheese market
My favourite and irresistible corner of all the areas in the buffet spread. It feels like a walking wardrobe, instead of clothings, you see rows of seafood and smoked seafood selections as well as condiments to pair with the seafood. The oysters are pretty fresh and are only open on demand basis.
Noodle Bar & Vertical Salad
The noodle bar (left) offers interesting ingredients which you can pick and choose to add on noodles with chicken stock soup or laksa (middle). While the vertical salad (right) offers some fresh greens to add to your daily count for soluble and insoluble fibre intake.
The Bar – Free Flow Wine anyone?
A selection of white and red wine is available at a nominal price along with the buffet spread.
Asian Delights & Malay and Indian Cuisine
There a interesting line up of different local food available, though in limited portions. The curry and the fried noodle tasted pretty good.
Grill & Wood Fired Oven
Fresh catch seafood is available for on-demand grill. During the visit there was Sea Brass and Pomfret available for the grill. There is also foie gras available on request too. We were also informed by the chef that on weekends there are lobsters for grill too. The truffle pizza tasted unique – perhaps it was my first time trying it, and the thin crust base is really soft and chewy.
Another interesting location is the sweet shop, there are many different variety of sweet temptations around. Definitely good for those who love desserts. Some of the notable items is the homemade ice cream that comes in many flavours – black sesame, mango, green tea – just to name a few. There is also the traditional local desserts available too.
It was a good spread of quality food available for a week day dinner buffet. There was also a good discount available if you hold a DBS/POSB Debit or Credit card or if you are a Marriott Rewards member. The service is decent, considering that it was weekday with minimal staff on duty, but they are always proactively clearing the table and ensuring that every little bit is being taken care of despite the surge in crowd during the dinner hours. Will be back again for another visit perhaps for their weekend brunch – which is another highlight according to the assistant manager.
