Spend the weekend away at the Mercure Singapore Bugis, got upgraded to the Executive Loft Room with Queen bed – as part of the Le Club Accorhotels Gold status. However, the upgrade does not come with the executive lounge access.
The 1.5 level loft unit houses a confined space of 25m sq, with the standard room amenities and facilities within the entrance level, while the bedroom is housed in the mezzanine level – with access via the staircase. The room comes with the Nespresso machine, coffee and tea making facilities and in-room safe.
The plus side to the loft is the provision of a sofa bed where you could pull it out turn it into a bed and perhaps play some UNO cards or if you have kids with you, let them sleep on the pull out bed. The hotel also provides the ‘handy’ devices that provide local data and local calls at no charge.
The bathroom is considered quite small though the toilet and shower area are partitioned.
This hotel boats quite a cool selection of facilities and green spaces that allows you for a therapeutic weekend getaway.
The favourite spot of the hotel vast green spaces, which is the rooftop. It is well lited at night and you could chill out here with a cup of coffee or alcohol beverage. And if you are lucky on the weekends of August, you can even spot the fireworks on display as part of the national day celebrations. Apart from that will the F1 race event and year-end countdown party where it allows you a view of the fireworks displays too.
Swimming Pool and 24 hours Gym
The swimming pool is open from 8am to 10pm daily, while the small gym is open 24 hours. The swimming pool is partially heated, with the jacuzzi at the side sheltered from rain. The only downside to this design is the front facing of public housing residential apartments. However, it still is a distance away from the hotel, so it should not pose as a sore-sight if you happen to be there for a swim.
On the side note, the location of the hotel allows for a good view of the fireworks from marina bay – both at the rooftop level and the swimming pool level. This property is also one of the few hotels in Singapore to offer the Loft experience. Another being the Studio M Hotel. In terms of accessibility, Mercure Bugis has a much better location in comparison.
The pockets of cosy corners at the rooftop and swimming pool level are nice hangout spots which provide a quiet space for those looking for some peace and tranquillity from within the hustle and bustle of city life. I would come back to this property for more, consider too that the rooftop garden allows quite a good view of fireworks on important events like the F1 Race, the National Day events and Year End countdown that happens at Marina Bay – which is not too far away from the hotel location.
